Oh Christmas Tree!

I love Christmas. I love Christmas trees. I love Christmas tree lights. I love Christmas tree lights in the morning while I drink my coffee. I love Ruby too but I didn't want to miss a year with a Christmas tree so last night we put up our first toddler proof Christmas tree. It's only five feet tall with a large enough stand that she can't pull it over. We left the normal ornaments in the closet and decorated it with shatter proof balls tied on with ribbons and homemade bows. It's simple but safe and Ruby loves it. She even helped us with the decorating (she insisted on wearing the strawberry hat that our neighbor gave us):

She's been talking about the "balls" on the table for a week so she was tickled they were finally out of the package. We let her play with them last night hoping she'll eventually lose interest. This morning she wanted to have milk and cheerios next to the tree. Afterward, she proceeded to take five ornaments off and threw them around the living room.

Grandma O'Brien spent her day with two toddlers and a Christmas tree. They practiced waving when she said, "Hello beautiful Christmas tree." Since I got home from school, she hasn't touched a single ornament.

Thanks for helping with the tree Auntie and Grandma O'Brien. Same time, same pizza next year?
