Preschool

Ruby started pre school. I'm not convinced three year olds need pre school but with her best, best friend and three day a week play mate moving away, I was worried about her going backwards socially. I tried to get the obligatory first day of school photos but she couldn't be bothered to stand still.

Adam and I both walked her to school the first day.

She got busy as soon as we arrived and could have cared less that we were leaving. I guess it's better than having her cry when we leave but I sure do appreciate her huge smile and running hug when I arrive to pick her up.

We actually enrolled her in another pre school near Burgess Park. We liked it and Ruby was excited but over the summer I got an email about openings at a pre school that was one block away. I didn't look into it originally because I heard you had to wait in line overnight to get a spot. That's not my thing but the date change for Kindergarten affected their enrollment. In true Megan form (ask Adam), I agonized over whether to check it out even though I already picked another school. In the end, we decided to sign her up. The school calendar was better aligned with my school calendar, the teachers were very friendly and welcoming, our neighbors love the school, many of the kids are from our neighborhood (we actually randomly met several over the summer at gymnastics, a hair salon, etc.) and we can walk her to school. That doesn't seem like a big deal but with a newborn in our future, is actually HUGE (to quote J). I'm so happy with our choice. Ruby loves it and I love the 1.5 minute walk to drop her off and pick her up. Now my only problem is that I heard they are retiring before Goo Goo makes it to pre school.
