Mother's Day

Ella is a good sleeper so I won't complain too much but after six months of listening for a baby and waking up for a 5 AM feed, I was tired.  I told Adam I wanted to go to a hotel by myself for a night.  I wanted to leave in the afternoon, go shopping, get a manicure and pedicure, order room service and fall asleep watching bad TV.  I didn't have a specific date or hotel in mind, I just wanted a night off.  Imagine my surprise when Adam told me he booked a room for the night before Mother's Day.  Imagine my jaw dropping when he said he booked it at the Four Seasons down the street.  The countdown was on!

Since Ella takes a bottle from anyone, it was pretty easy to sneak away.  Plus, Scott was coming over for a jammie movie party.  They didn't waste any time getting started.

Just like I planned, I left in the afternoon.  I stopped at the market to get trashy magazines and a bottle of wine.  I went to Nordstrom, checked in, had lunch by the pool (and sadly got a buzz from one glass of wine), got my nails done, ate a delicious dinner (and dessert) and fell asleep watching something terrible.  It was fantastic.

I was up pretty early since I had to take care of some business.

Fortunately, that left plenty of time for the tub.  Not only was it a fantastic bathtub, but there was a television in the room.  I read my magazine *and* watched Bravo.  I don't think life gets any better.

I finally called to check in with Adam.  Everyone was fine but it was time to check out.  I made the 60 second drive home and was happy to see everyone.  Grandma O'Brien and Grandpa Gary came over.  We walked to the park while Adam got us a picnic lunch.  A perfect ending to a perfect weekend. Thanks Adam!  I can't even tell you how much I enjoyed the night.  If you want to make it a yearly tradition, you won't hear any argument from me =)

P.S. Ruby made me this amazing pen and holder at preschool.  I might just like it more than my night alone at the Four Seasons.

P.S.S. We made this card for Mother's Day.  Ruby made the flowers.  Ella made the leaves.

P.S.S.S. One funny side story...when I checked out, there was a huge charge for the mini bar.  Since I didn't eat or drink any of it, I was surprised.  It turns out they have sensors on the bottom of the fridge so they can tell when items have been removed.  I laughed out loud and explained that all the items were on top of the cabinet because I needed space in the fridge.  The nice man took my word for it instead of making me explain.  Haha!
