Showers

I love throwing and planning parties for other people but hate having the attention on myself. Lucky for me, I am surrounded by amazing (and convincing) people and ended up having three celebrations for Baby Goo Goo last week.

My last day of school was Tuesday. The doctor was ready to write me a note when I was 36 weeks but I was still feeling fine so I worked another two weeks. That morning, the Social Committee sent me off with yummy cupcakes, a staff card and a Target gift card. Thanks Cumberland! You're awesome and I'll miss you.

On Friday, Ruby, Grandma O'Brien and I went back to school for a celebration with our class. A super sweet mom approached my sister, my job share partner and then me about planning a party. I've had all three of her kids and love them to death. She suggested a party at a restaurant or her house but I thought something simple with the kids would fun. They had a story, an activity for the kids, snacks, homemade cards from the kids, a gift for Ruby and a generous gift for Goo Goo. My job share partner also had the kids make a big sister book for Ruby and a book for Goo Goo. It was all so sweet and thoughtful. I have a similar book from when I got married and when I had Ruby. I will keep them forever.

On Saturday, my mom and sister threw me a diaper shower. I didn't want to bother anyone, truly didn't need anything and am still pretty sad that some of my best friends moved out of the state/country but they convinced me that people want to celebrate and parties are fun. Thank goodness I listened because it was a great time! The food was delicious, the company was fantastic and people apparently love buying baby gifts even when you tell them not to. Remember that post about having such amazing friends? Saturday proved it yet again. We have diapers and wipes for days, some super cute new outfits (good since Goo Goo is going to be a hand me down baby) and a bag full of books and art supplies for Ruby to enjoy when Goo Goo actually comes to her home.

Thanks everyone! I can't tell you how much your kindness means to me.
