Fortunately by Remy Charlip

Fortunately, Ruby had a terrific time in her baby pool yesterday afternoon. She didn't even need water!

Unfortunately, we had our first bloody incident so her night didn't go quite as well.

Right before bedtime, Ruby tripped and hit her face on the couch. She popped right up just like the other 1000 times she falls during the day so we didn't think much of it. When Adam walked back in the living room, he asked if she was bleeding. I told him she had strawberries with dinner. Next thing we know, blood is pouring from her mouth. She still wasn't sad but clearly wasn't sure what to do about the blood. As a matter of fact, she didn't cry until we held her down on the bed and tried to check inside her mouth. At that point, we either scared her or it started to sting because she went ballistic! We got her sippy cup and some ice but it's near impossible to clean out a babies mouth (which we know from the soap incident a few months back). We thought the bathtub would make her feel better. Nope. She screamed hysterically while grabbing my arms in an attempt to climb out of the bathtub herself. She finally calmed down when I took her back to the bedroom, grabbed her lovie and rocked her (naked and soaking wet) in her chair. Even though it wasn't my fault, I would have rocked her all night long. It was heartbreaking to listen to her cry and not know how to make her feel better. It's time to toughen up...it can only get worse from here =(

  2. Poor Ruby! A similar thing happened to Caleb. It's so terrifying to see blood.
