Ruby is pretty attached to me but clearly loves Dada. She sings songs about him on her walks with Grandma O'Brien and Norah, she blames her burps on him and tells him where to sit for dinner as soon as he walks in the door at night. On the mornings I'm at home, I get Ruby out of her crib and she immediately runs down the hallway to find him. First she knocks on the door, then she opens it up and last she either climbs on the bed or opens the bathroom door if he's getting ready for work. Yesterday she was delighted to find him in the shower. She came out of the bathroom tugging at the zipper of her pajamas. Our conversation went like this:
Ruby, tugging at her zipper: "Zi, zi, zi."
Me: "Do you want me to unzip your pajamas?"
Ruby, shakes her head yes and proceeds to pull off her pajamas and play with the snaps on her onesie.
Me: "Do you want me to unbutton your onesie?"
Ruby, shakes her head yes and puts her arms up in the air.
Me: "Do you want me to take off your onesie?"
Ruby, shakes head yes and grabs the tabs on her diaper.
Me: "Do you want me to take off your diaper?"
Ruby, shakes her head yes and runs naked into the bathroom to join Adam in the shower.
She didn't need a shower but who am I to argue with an almost 19 month old? I grabbed the towel out of her bathroom, gave it to Adam and went downstairs to get my coffee and watch Project Runway. Great way to start the day!
