Grandpa Gary

You know how kids show off when when they have a grown up audience? Ruby did it for the first time today.

Grandpa Gary was in CA so he and Grandma O'Brien came over for a visit. Ruby took a great nap and ate a great lunch so she was raring to go when they arrived. She bounced from one thing to the next...sitting on balls, bringing in toys, running around the couch, pushing her stroller, getting on and off the couch and generally demanding his attention. At one point, she discovered his shirt was made of the same material as her lovey so she insisted on playing with it even though he was trying to eat his lunch.

After about a hour of non stop activity, she totally crashed and burned. She went to the bottom of the stairs, shook the gate and said "pu, pu, pu" over and over. I asked if she wanted to take a break in her room. She shook her head "yes" and said "buh bye" when I picked her up. As soon as I put her in bed, she grabbed her book and said "Anpa" so I took her back downstairs. After showing Grandpa Gary her book, she was back at the gate again. After another "buh bye", we went upstairs again. I guess she needed some Ruby time because she sat in her bed and read a book with her blanket and bear until dinner time. I love that she enjoys some time alone but worry that that is when she's going to figure out how to climb out of the crib.
