Can Ruby come out to play?

There are 14 kids in our little neighborhood. Ruby is one of the youngest but she doesn't care one bit. She loves to follow them around while they draw chalk spaceships, search for bugs, sell lemonade, deliver Girl Scout cookies and play with every toy in the garage. Lucky for us, they love Ruby right back. When I pull in the driveway, they shout "Ruby" and run over to see if she's in the car. Yesterday afternoon I heard a little knock on the door. When I opened it, five of the kids were on our doorstep asking if Ruby could come out to play. It warmed my heart. When Ruby woke up from her nap, we spent two and a half hours outside. The kids played and the grown ups sat in the sunshine. One mom even brought out some beers! On our way back from the park today, everyone was outside again. Ruby squealed as she joined the gang. I already loved where we live. After this weekend, I love it even more.

Note to self, make sure Ruby plays outside with the kids again next year. We didn't do anything to help her adjust to the time change and she was begging to go to bed at the usual time tonight. Thanks for the quiet evening Ruby!
