Two and Three Months

I waited so long to post about Ella at two months that she's now three months. Woops!

At two months she weighed 12 pounds 9.5 ounces and was in the 80% for weight. She was 22.5 inches and was in the 56% for height. Oh my goodness. I got a fatty this time. I love it!

There isn't a well baby appointment at three months but since we do the alternative vaccination schedule, Ella was scheduled for an appointment anyway. Long story short, she didn't have vaccinations but did see a pediatrician. She weighed 14 pounds 3 ounces. According to Dr. Google, that meant she was between the 75% and 90% percentile for weight. Still our chunky monkey!

Ella is fantastic. Here's the latest:
  • She's a great eater. She wakes up, gets her diaper changed and eats. She eats for about 10 minutes, finishes and smiles. I had no idea breastfeeding could actually be easy. She also guzzles down bottles. I had no idea bottle feeding could actually be easy. I guess it's good karma for all we went through with Ruby.
  • She's a great sleeper. I hate to even talk about it but Ella sleeps like her sister. We started a bedtime routine and it worked again. Ella goes to sleep with Ruby and sleeps until 5-6 AM. I feed her and she goes back to sleep for a few more hours. We aren't doing anything special. We just got lucky again. Thank goodness.
  • She has good head control and a strong neck. It's a good thing because I totally forget to put her on her tummy. Every few days it occurs to me that she needs tummy time so I roll her over. She doesn't seem to mind.
  • She smiles, blows raspberries and just started to make gargling sounds.
  • She loves to suck on her hands and tries her hardest to put both of them in her mouth at once.
  • She just started to get her toys in her mouth. It will be a great day when she discovers that she can suck and chew on them too.
  • Of all the toys in our house, her favorite things are blankets, burp cloths, wash clothes, etc. If you lay one on top of her, she grabs it and puts it in her mouth immediately. That works well for the car seat, stroller, changing table and bathtub.
  • She loves the bathtub. She has an occasional witching hour in the evening. The minute you put her in the bathtub, she's happy. Her favorite thing is to suck on a washcloth. Ruby did it too but she didn't have a big sister who was possibly peeing in the bathtub.
  • She rolled over from her back to her tummy. It only happened once on the bed while I was on the other side. It hasn't happened again but she's trying really hard.
  • She has a big sister in pre school so she gets a lot of cooties and a lot of sick. She's already had two colds, bronchiolitis and a double ear infection. The pediatricians (we've seen four) all say it's because of Ruby. Luckily she's in pretty good spirits even when she's sick. There were a few days last week when she just wanted cuddles. I figured it was my last time cuddling a three month old so I settled in with Ella and Teen Mom 2.
All in all, she's a great girl and we love her...especially Ruby. Just tonight Ruby walked in the room while I was feeding her and said, "I love my baby sister. Thanks for letting her out."
