Thanksgiving Part One

We went to Nevada City for Thanksgiving. It was a quick but great trip. Ruby played with stickers for the first time. Consider yourself warned. Playing stickers with Ruby involves a lot of "more, more, more" the minute she puts a sticker on the paper. Thanks Grandma Stone!

Ruby helped Adam with dinner. She loved pounding on the graham crackers for the pumpkin cheesecake. Even after Adam was finished, we had to give her a bag to bang on.

Grandpa Stone had his Christmas decorations out because he's going on a ski trip before Christmas. Ruby loved them all but was particularly fond of a small statue of Santa sitting on a bench. She carried it around and called it "baby." She also had a love/hate relationship with a nutcracker. She kept going back to it but was scared to death when we made the mouth move.

Grandpa Stone did a great job getting the house ready for Ruby. With the two stair cases gated off, she was free to roam the house. Her favorite spot? The second step on the sunken living room. After one attempt at walking straight down (which resulted in a face plant), she sat down or backed down the rest of our visit.

We left at bedtime so Ruby could sleep on our drive home. She was asleep about 10 minutes after we took this picture, slept for three hours and the rest of the night once we got home. Thanks Ruby!

I don't have pictures but it's also worth mentioning that despite my best effort, Ruby loves Uncle Crockett (Grandpa Stone's dog). She doesn't want to touch him but has no problem being around him, giving him treats and throwing his slobbery ball. At one point we were all outside while Adam played fetch with Crockett. Adam went back inside to cook and Crockett was bugging me so I had him take the dog. Ruby was beside herself that Crockett was leaving and spent the next hour trying to reunite Adam, the dog and the ball.
