Beach House Weekend

For nearly 10 years, we've been going to Scott's beach house in Pajaro Dunes with our friends. It's only 1.5 hours from home but is the most relaxing place in the world. We accomplish very little during a beach house weekend unless you count taking in the views, reading gossip magazines, napping regularly, playing Euchre, eating yummy food, drinking tasty beverages and having a dance party productive. It's perfect. Thanks Scott!

Adam and I took Ruby to the beach house the past three times. She loved it and our friends loved her. She played all day and slept all night. We played all day, played some more at night, slept until Ruby woke us up and then tried to stay quiet in the back bedroom so we didn't wake up the rest of the house. Now that she's a walking, talking toddler, we decided to make it a grown up weekend again so we enlisted the help of Grandma O'Brien. It was a hardship, but she managed to spend the weekend with Ruby and come out smiling =) Here's a quick recap:

Norah was over on Friday. While returning a sippy cup to Caroline (and getting to say hello to Baby Kevin), they were lucky enough to see a helicopter from Stanford Hospital land at the fire station. Grandma O'Brien learned that it was for training only but the girls didn't care. They got to see it take off and loved the noise and the wind!

On Saturday morning, Grandma O'Brien and Ruby were on their way to the park when the neighbors came over to say hello. They were headed to a parade in Palo Alto so Grandma and Ruby joined them. Do you think Ruby liked the marching?

After the parade and a nap, Grandma and Ruby watched Sesame with the peacock, played with Grandma's amazing yard sale find, went to the park, and played with the dog at Grandma's house. Phew... busy day!

After such a busy Saturday, Grandma and Ruby took it easy on Sunday. They ate breakfast and created a farm city with Grandma's other amazing yard sale find.

We got home to find a happy girl and a happy Grandma. After catching up with our friend Cheryl, playing outside with the kids, watching the Sharks win and having a cuddle fest on our bed, Ruby passed out without a bath or a peep.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Grandma O'Brien. We don't know what we would do without you.
