Random Thoughts

Adam and I had a few computer issues so I haven't been online all week (thank goodness for my phone). I know there were many moments that I thought would make good blog entries but I can't remember them now. So, here are some random thoughts for the week:

  • Ruby discovered trains. We were dropping my car off at a collision shop in Redwood City. The place was literally next to the train tracks so I had to keep Ruby in her stroller. To keep her from melting down, I took her outside to watch the trains go by (it was 4:30 PM so there were a ton of trains). She was fascinated. After the first train, she figured out that the bells meant a train was coming. Every time she heard the bell, she got so excited. She was bummed when we had to go inside so I could fill out the paperwork. I told her we would go back outside if another train went by. Sure enough, she heard the bells and motioned to go back outside. Even the guy at the desk knew what she wanted because he said he'd wait a minute while we watched the train.
  • Ruby loves music. Whenever she hears music, she stops dead in her tracks and starts dancing. Sometimes it's in our living room, sometimes it's in the middle of the mall, sometimes it's when a car drives by while we're outside. We went to two different story hours this week. During the stories, Ruby likes to walk around and check things out (AKA bang on the felt board and take all the books off the shelf). During the songs, she stops to dance. When the songs are over, she goes right up to the librarian and asks for "more."
  • Speaking of "more", Ruby is currently a "more-aholic." She signs "more" for everything right now. More hiding around a corner and scaring her, more guitar playing, more pictures on the television, more pretending to sit on Ruby while she's on the couch, more chasing her while she pushes her stroller around the living room, more facing the blow dryer toward her...you get the idea. We went to the park on Friday and she was fascinated by a little boy who was throwing a basketball up the slide. He left the little kid playground to go to the big kid playground. Sometime later, he came back. Ruby saw him, pointed to the slide and signed "more, more, more."
  • Ruby started signing more than one word at a time. Friday night she signed "more please" when Scott showed her a video he made and today she signed "milk please" after eating two cookies. Smart girl...milk goes great with cookies =)
  • Ruby loved swimming today and was actually sad to get out of the pool. Yay!
  • Ruby has stinky feet when I take off her tennis shoes.
  • Ruby is our favorite person in the world.
